Front and Rear Standards (Simple)

I'm was going to have these standards cut for me from these plans out of 1/8" Aluminum.  The plan was to cut each of the pieces and then tig weld the joints.  This would provide a LOT of stability throughout and still be quite thin and light.  Of course, a tig weld will discolor the metal so I was going to have to paint these when they were done.  I would have done this like I was painting a car by prepping and priming the metal, painting the pieces with a good gloss black paint and then baking the paint to a hard finish.   You could make these out of a combination of wood with an outer casing of brass but that would add to the weight.  It would still make for a really nice set of standards.
